Eight The Green is a charming 200-year-old stone cottage, thoughtfully updated to a high standard. Set at the upper end of Middleton by Wirksworth, it overlooks the village green with rolling hills beyond. Just a short walk from The Nelson Arms pub, a well-served bus stop and the panoramic views of Middleton Moor, it’s a peaceful escape for two — the perfect retreat after a day exploring the Derbyshire Dales.
The accommodation is arranged over two floors: the living room and kitchen on the ground floor, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Outside, a front garden and private rear courtyard offer quiet spots to enjoy the sun throughout the day.
Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included. The kitchen is stocked with everyday essentials and a welcome pack to help you settle in.

The ground floor
After leaving your outdoor gear in the porch, you enter a comfortable living room with a wood‑burning stove, dining table, armchair, footstool and a Derbyshire‑made sofa. A 37” television with a Roku Streambar provides streaming services via fast fibre broadband. The refurbished kitchen features oak worktops, an induction hob, electric fan oven, microwave, separate fridge and freezer, and an integrated washing machine. In warmer months, the sheltered sunny courtyard is perfect for relaxing or enjoying al fresco dining.

The first floor
Upstairs, the well‑proportioned bedroom has two windows with views across the village towards Black Rocks, Bolehill and Alport Heights. A king‑size metal‑framed bed with a hybrid mattress ensures a restful night’s sleep, and there’s plenty of storage with a hanging rail and chest of drawers. The spacious bathroom offers a relaxing place to unwind, with a full‑sized bath and thermostatic shower overhead, plus underfloor heating for added comfort.

Outside
To the front of the cottage, there’s a bench where you can sit and watch village life unfold. A lockable outhouse opposite provides secure storage for bikes if needed. While there is no dedicated parking space at the property, ample free parking is available around The Green and in the public car park beside The Nelson Arms. You can also pull up outside the cottage for luggage drop-off and pick-up.
For guests arriving by public transport, Cromford rail station is less than 3 miles (around 10 minutes) away, with taxis or buses to Middleton by Wirksworth. The bus stop on The Green is regularly served by Trent Barton's The Sixes service, which runs between Derby and Matlock/Bakewell, stopping at several local towns and villages along the route.
